On the 22 March 1987, in Islip, Long Island, NY, 3168tons of rubbish got loaded onto a barge an towed by tug boat, Break of Dawn, captained by CAP'M Duffy ST. PIERRE.
The garbage barge traveled 6000 miles over. It spent 162 days at sea because none would take their. rubbish.
The garbage barge finally got insinuated in Brooklyn, Islip were court ordered to take back the 430 tons that was left after it had been burnt.
The average person in America liters 4lbs of rubbish per day, compared to Islip. Islip liters,7lb which is 3.1kg per day.

ReplyDeleteKia ora Drew,
ReplyDeleteDon't we make a lot of rubbish! I wonder how much we each make every day? Do you have a compost heap to put your grass and leaves and vegetable scraps into? Great work! I am enjoying reading everyone's blogs.
The barge holds A LOT of rubbish Drew.I'm glad that they didn't dump it at sea.It would pollute the ocean and kill lots of wildlife.
